Intuplas is an intumescent polymer composite that can be injection molded or extruded, allowing for near endless OEM customization. The material comes in several formulations each with different expansion, rigidity and fire safety profiles.

Intuplas’s technology is proven and accredited for safety. Alongside PyroPhobic’s innovative designs, it delivers superior fire protection for a wide variety of building construction applications.

Because Intuplas is injection moldable, it is incredibly versatile for most OEM applications. The material is available in shapes and sizes similar to those of common thermoplastics, and can be tailored to your unique specifications. Intuplas is currently available in a durable and flexible sheet form up to 96 inches (243.8cm) wide on a continuous roll, in lengths up to 100 feet (30.48m).

These extruded panels are currently available in thicknesses ranging from 0.06 inches (1.5mm) to 0.24 inches (6mm). Intuplas is electrically non-conductive and is generally used at ambient temperature.

REAL-WORLD APPLICATION

How SafePassage® Intuplas® Protects Poke-Through Openings

SafePassage® is engineered for OEMs developing fire-rated poke-through devices for floors, walls, and ceilings. Molded from Pyrophobic’s Intuplas® intumescent polymer, SafePassage® helps protect the opening around electrical and data pathways by expanding when exposed to heat, forming a barrier against fire, heat, and smoke.

1. Engineered Intumescent Material
Pyrophobic manufactures Intuplas®, a patented intumescent polymer designed to expand when exposed to elevated temperatures.

2. Molded Into SafePassage®
Intuplas® is molded into SafePassage®, a ready-to-integrate fire protection component for electrified deck and poke-through applications.

3. Integrated by OEM Partners
OEMs incorporate SafePassage® into poke-through devices, floor boxes, and related building products that require passive fire protection.

4. Installed in the Building
The completed device is installed in a floor, wall, or ceiling assembly during construction, helping maintain the fire-rated separation between spaces.

5. Fire Sarts
Fire starts on one side (another floor or room).

6. Expands to Seal the Opening
When exposed to heat, it expands to fill the void, helping block fire, heat, and smoke from spreading to the next room or floor.

7. Protecting the next floor/room.
This advanced passive fire protection material is a solution to save lives and protect property. It also helps OEMs to meet demanding fire safety requirements.
