ESG (Environmental,
Social and Governance)
Our Commitment to ESG
At Pyrophobic Systems Ltd., sustainability is core to our operations. We are committed to creating long-term value through environmentally conscious practices, an inclusive workplace culture, and strong governance standards. Below is a summary of the current key initiatives we have undertaken to align with ESG principles as we grow and evolve:
Recyclable Materials
Our products are made of recyclable materials, reducing extraction needs, lowering energy consumption in manufacturing, minimizing waste, and preventing pollution.
Sustainable Production Processes
Our new production methodologies aim to consolidate multiple steps into a single stage, significantly reducing material handling and energy use.
Water Usage Optimization
We’ve integrated water and energy efficient cooling systems, including a closed-loop cooling system, which reduces overall water consumption in our manufacturing processes.
Halogen-Free Materials
We are investing in developing halogen-free versions of our materials, significantly reducing the environmental impact.
Carbon Emissions Reduction
We are actively reducing our carbon footprint through the use of energy-efficient machinery and automation. This includes systems for automated quality inspections, digital data logging, and label printing, improving operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
Waste Management Improvements
Our circular approach includes regrind and reprocessing materials from previous production runs, and responsibly disposing of excess materials through licensed waste services in compliance with the Resource Productivity & Recovery Authority (RPRA).
Fair Labour Practices – Certified Living Wage Employer
As a Certified Living Wage Employer, we are dedicated to providing wages that support a dignified quality of life. This commitment helps us build a healthy, skilled, and motivated workforce.
Diversity, equity and inclusion
We foster a workplace where diversity, equity, and inclusion are celebrated. Our team welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, identities, and perspectives. We have a culture that believes in and promotes equal opportunity. Our culture also has no place for discrimination on any basis. Being a SMB with a focus on growth, we also believe strongly in merit based decisions related to hiring, promotion and compensation. We feel that DEI and merit are not at odds and can complement each other in today’s business environment.
Employee Health & Safety
At Pyrophobics we strive to exceed and not merely comply with the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Our proactive measures include annual ESA inspections, monthly health & safety reviews with employees, and comprehensive training and certifications (e.g., forklift operation, elevated platforms, first aid).
Risk Management
We maintain risk management strategies under the ISO 9001 standard, including PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis to address internal and external challenges and to guide proactive decision-making.
Ethical Conduct
Our employee handbook and adherence to HR regulations help promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and ethical behavior across all levels of the organization. We have a culture that promotes and always strives for ethical business practices in dealing with employees, suppliers, partners and customers.
Ethical Sourcing and Supplier Standards
At Pyrophobic Systems Ltd., we take a principled approach to supply chain management by prioritizing partnerships with suppliers who demonstrate strong ESG commitments and ethical practices. Our procurement strategy favors organizations that uphold human rights, prohibit forced and child labor, and engage in sustainable sourcing practices. Many of our partners, including Albemarle, Univar, Brenntag, and Aurora, hold third-party certifications (e.g., EcoVadis, Green Circle, Vantage Vinyl) and have documented codes of conduct that align with responsible sourcing and supply chain transparency. This approach ensures our materials and processes reflect our core values of integrity, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Commitment (2022–2030)
Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. recognizes its responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of its operations and to contribute to a lower-carbon future through responsible resource management and continuous improvement.
Using 2022 as our baseline year, Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. is committed to achieving a 30% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions per unit of production by 2030. As a growing manufacturer, we have adopted an intensity-based target so that our emissions performance is measured independently of business growth, and we will report both our emissions intensity and our total absolute emissions as part of our annual review.
This commitment applies to emissions generated from our operations, including natural gas, propane, company-owned vehicles, and purchased electricity.
To achieve this objective, Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. will pursue continuous improvement in energy efficiency, including electrification of thermal loads where feasible, alongside operational performance and greenhouse gas management. We will monitor our emissions regularly, evaluate opportunities to reduce our environmental impact, and invest in practical, sustainable solutions that support our long-term environmental objectives while maintaining the quality, safety, and reliability of our products and services.
Progress toward this commitment will be reviewed annually through our greenhouse gas inventory and environmental management processes. We will measure our performance against the 2022 baseline, report our progress transparently, and update our plans as needed to remain on track toward our 2030 target. We recognize this is an ambitious objective, and we are committed to pursuing it with the same rigour we apply to the quality and safety of our products.
This commitment is made with the full support and sponsorship of our leadership team.
