The 55 lb. tempRCORE is a mineral temperature rise core approved by Warnock Hersey and UL for 1.5 and 3 hour positive and negative pressure steel doors, UBC 7-2, NFPA 252, UL 1OC, ULC CAN4-S104-M80, for single doors up to 4′ x 8′ and standard double doors up to 8′ x 8′. Warnock Hersey has approved the core for 1.5 hour positive and negative pressure for double egress up to 8′ x 8′.

What is the core made from?

temprCORE is a patented inorganic based composite core, a large component of which is polystyrene.

What are the fire ratings and where is it tested?

The core is Approved by Warnock Hersey and UL for 1.5 and 3-hour positive pressure (including negative pressure) steel doors, UBC 7-2, NFPA 252, UL10C, ULC CAN4-S104-M80, for single doors up to 4’ x 8’ and standard double doors up to 8’ x 8’.Warnock Hersey has approved the core for 1.5 hour positive and negative pressure for double egress up to 8’ x 8’.

What dimensions are available?

The core is currently available commercially in dimensions 33.5” x 74.5” – 80” H x 1.656”D but could be made to other dimensions if desired.

Can it be used for steel doors only?

The door, core and wall assembly must match what is listed. The door must be the proper steel gauge and assembly of wall construction must match what was used in the testing.

Does it have a R rating and does it have a STC (sound transmission coefficient)?

No information on R rating at all. Although we believe it is insulative and STC is based on the door assembly as it would be mounted, we don’t test for this. The rest of the answers are on the PDS or sales sheet.
