International Firestop Council (IFC) Voting Membership

Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. is now a voting member of the International Firestop Council (IFC).  After attending the IFC’s spring 2012 meeting held in Hilton Head South Carolina Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. President John Page made the decision that IFC’s mission dovetails with the goals and aspirations of Pyro.  As quoted on IFC’s web site, “IFC’s mission is to promote the technology of fire containment in modern building research, education and development of safety standards and code provisions”.  Page noted that IFC’s direct involvement in code review and activity on various code councils coupled with its impressive membership list of industry players will be very beneficial to Pyro in understanding the dynamics of the firestop industry and better serving customers needs for firestop solutions.  IFC’s web site is www.firestop.org.

NAATBatt Workshop on Thermal Safety in Advanced Traction Batteries

Timothy Riley, US Market Manager for PyroPhobic Systems, LLC spoke about IntuPlas fire resistant thermoplastic technology at the NAATBatt Workshop on Thermal Safety in Advanced Traction Batteries to leading auto makers, battery materials scientists and companies working on thermal solutions.  Thermal risk in lithium-ion traction batteries is an often under-appreciated issue that is critical to the future of electric drive.

Intumescent Technologies of Atlanta Places Significant Order for Intuplas

Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. President John Page is pleased to announce a significant order from Intumescent Technologies Llc.  Following the successful passing of Intertek testing in March this year the partnership between the two companies has produced the first significant order for Fireblok gaskets.  An initial order for the Southern US has been placed for 50,000 units for several key construction projects in the area.  This is a great start for the penetration of the product which is patented proprietary technology and highlights how Pyrophobic Systems provides an innovative solution in the application of our nano composite firestop technology.

Pyrophobic Systems Attends Power Gen Show

Pyrophobic Systems Tim Riley and John Page attended the Power Gen Show in Las Vegas this week.  With newly introduced code requirements for power plant components with regards to fire retardancy many suppliers to the industry have expressed a great deal of interest in the Intuplas and Intugraph nano composite firestop technology.  Pyrophobic will be introducing its Intuplas TowerShield material into several applications aimed at meeting the needs for these clients and the industry.

SteelCraft Industries Selects Temprcore

SteelCraft Industries (Div of Ingersoll Rand) selects Temprcore for use in their T-Series temperature rise doors.  John Page President of Pryophobic Systems noted that this was a very detailed approval process to have Temprcore specified for use in Steelcraft’s T-Series doors and is a testament to our quality and dependability as the number one supplier of temperature rise cores for the hollow metal door industry.

Pyrophobic Welcomes New Technical Sales Engineer

Pyrophobic Systems Ltd. President John Page announced the hiring of Timothy Riley this week as Technical Sales Engineer.  Tim has been involved in the Firestop and Intumescent coating industry in various roles for AD Fire, Carboline and Hilti.  Tim will play a key role in getting market penetration for Intuplas and Intugraph nano composite materials for firestop and suppression applications.  In addition to Tim’s great experience he is a former US Naval officer and that fits well with the early conceptional development of Intuplas as a Naval shipboard firestop component.

Intuplas Passes 1 & 2 Hour Ratings

Pyrophobic Systems nanocomposite technology,  Intuplas, passed 1 and 2 hour ratings  to ASTME814-08 fire suppression gasketing systems in insulated and un-insulated gypsum board constructed walls.  The testing was completed by Intertek Testing in British Columbia.  Intumescent Technologies LLC of Atlanta partnered with Pyrophobic Systems to develop their “FIREBLOK” gasket system for use in commercial and residential construction in electrical wiring metal boxes.  This certification gives ITL’s customers the ability to retrofit or qualify their wall systems for 1 hour ratings by incorporating Intuplas nanocomposite technology into the inside of the box providing ultimate protection for the public.  For more information visit www.intumescenttechnologies.com/index.htm.
